Carrie Underwood Wins “Favorite Female Country Artist” At People’s Choice Awards

Carrie wrapped 2014 with the release of her Greatest Hits: Decade #1 (19 Recordings/Arista Nashville) album. It became her fifth consecutive album to debut at #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums sales chart with first-week sales of 94,000, delivering the best-selling debut for a hits collection by an artist in any genre of music in more than six years. The project includes the GRAMMY®-nominated smash, “Something in the Water” at the upcoming 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards.

Carrie Underwood emerged from the promise of her 2005 American Idol win to become a true multi-format, multi-media superstar, spanning achievements in music, television, and film, where the six-time GRAMMY® Award winner has amassed more than 95 major honors, sold more than 64 million records worldwide, and recorded 18 #1 singles, nine of which she co-wrote. The first female artist to be twice named the Academy of Country Music’s Entertainer of the Year, Underwood was recognized as Pollstar’s top female country touring artist for her headlining tours in 2008, 2010, and 2012. Her four albums, Some Hearts, Carnival Ride, Play On, and Blown Away – each certified multi-Platinum or Platinum, and each an American Music Awards winner as Country Album of the Year – tallied 38 weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart with songs that have now been streamed more than 800 million times worldwide. In 2013, she starred as Maria von Trapp in NBC’s three-hour holiday blockbuster, the Emmy®-winning The Sound of Music Live!, whose airings attracted 44 million viewers. A proud member of the Grand Ole Opry since 2008, Underwood is now in her second season as the musical voice of primetime television’s #1 program, Sunday Night Football, and recently returned for the seventh consecutive year as co-host of the CMA Awards. The release of her Greatest Hits: Decade #1 in late 2014 also garnered Underwood two Grammy nominations for Best Country Solo Performance for “Something in the Water” and Best Country Duo/Group Performance for her “Somethin’ Bad” duet with Miranda Lambert at the upcoming 57th Annual GRAMMY Awards.
