I also posted this at Carrie Fans but I thought I'd blog it here as well.
Concert review:
First off, I’ll give overall grades:
Carrie: A+++ for both shows
Crowd: Probably about a C. The crowd at the first show was pretty laid back not much dancing or standing. The second show was better especially as it went into the New Year and she had everybody on their feet.
Weather forecast: FFFFF. Idiots said the snow would start in the evening. WRONG!
Drive to Casino:
My plans were to get up at 9 and get ready and go to church from 10-11 and then head to the casino which is about 1 hour away(in good weather) and catch the Viking game on TV and then gamble some. Plans changed quickly.. I was all ready to leave for church when I looked outside and saw snow coming down. Funny the weathermen just 12 hours early had said the rain would change to snow mid-afternoon to evening. Last time I checked that’s not 10 AM! So I checked our local weather station and their radar had NO snow yet(idiots) so I went to the national picture where I see that the temperature is now 33(wasn’t supposed to drop below 35 before about 5 pm) plus I see a bigger part of the storm heading right through where I’m going to drive.
So I figure I’d better skip church and leave for the casino right away. YUCK! First half of the drive was absolutely horrible driving conditions. Normally takes me 30-40 minutes this time it took 75 minutes. People were literally going 30-40 on the freeway. So I finally get to the casino at noon.. just in time to catch the Viking game
Viking game. Won’t bore you with these details we got killed again but toward the end of the Viking game(about 3:30 or so I heard a cool noise).. The band was warming up for sound check.
Sound check: I don’t think anyone else saw or heard the sound check.. At first the band and Nikki practiced on and off. I could see Nikki in front whenever security opened the doors. Then about 4:15 or so doors opened and I could see Carrie in the front on her stool… Suddenly time stopped.. nothing else mattered!!! She was here!!!!
7:30 concert – 4th row center… right behind Don.
She was wearing a tan sparkly dress that went to her knees with black boots. She had curly hair. The music for We’re Young And Beautiful started playing and the place went nuts!! Out she came. Lord is she gorgeous!!!!! She sang her usual set. Again the crowd was quiet subdued.. they clapped and cheered but not much dancing or standing up.
Comments she made during the concert that I can remember:
1. Mentioned that the only person who might have enjoyed 2006 more then she did was her Mom because she got to go to a lot of award shows. She said though that she had to keep her Mom away from some of the celebrities because she kept wanting to get her picture taken with them.
2. Mentioned that she got to go to Iraq to perform for the troops and how appreciative she is of what they do for us.

10:30 show: - 3rd row right in front of Don… I have on my Kiss Me If You’re Carrie Underwood t-shirt. Could it possibly work come midnight..
Before the show I introduce myself to Don realizing that I was so mesmerized by Carrie that I forgot to do that at the first show. He points out the other members of Carrie fans that he knows that are here. Again, brain lapse I didn’t even think about introducing myself to any of them. Oh well I’m sure I’ll get to meet you all some other time(Maybe State Fair time if she comes here).
OK, as for the concert the group did seem more into it this time around. Still not a lot of standing up and dancing but plenty of cheering/clapping. They also handed out party hats and noise makers before this show.
Again, she comes out to We’re Young And Beautiful and if it’s possible while she’s wearing the exact same thing she looks even more gorgeous then before!!!
Same set list as before up until close to midnight.
Things she said during the concert:
1. Once again talked about going to Iraq to perform for the troops and how honored she was to get to do that.
2. Thanked the band as this was the last show they would do with this set list. So she thanked them for touring with her and being away from their families so much.
3. Thanked the fans again.
I notice at about 5 to midnight that she still has 2 songs left. Some Hearts and I Ain’t In Checotah Anymore. So she sings Some Hearts and once that is done she makes a quick announcement that there is only 25 seconds to midnight. She then says the unthinkable…
“I know normally people kiss at midnight but I don’t have anyone to kiss” I don’t remember what she said after that except I’m thinking here’s my shot!!! Unfortunately it happened so fast and she kept talking and people were screaming pretty loud at that point that I didn’t get a chance to point out my shirt to her.. So close but yet so far!!!!
Anyway, as the clock struck midnight she had a hat and noisemaker and was having a lot of fun with that and she sang a different song which I can’t remember right now.
After that song was done she went into I Ain’t In Checotah Anymore… thanked the people once again wished everyone a Happy New Year and partied with the band a little on stage with all of the noisemakers.
She didn’t stay and sign for autographs afterwards which I’m not surprised about at all because it was about 12:15 or so when she was done and that would have gotten very very late..
So, all in all a great great experience aside from the terrible driving conditions. As for Carrie not seeing my t-shirt, no worries to quote a famous movie: “After all, tomorrow is another day!”
