Carrie Underwood To Visit Today Show for Exclusive Announcement Friday, Sept. 26

The Global Citizen Festival aims to celebrate the achievements made toward ending extreme poverty by 2030, and provide world leaders with a clear and compelling mandate to accelerate progress on the issues of vaccines, education and sanitation. The Global Citizen movement focuses on those living in extreme poverty – defined as living on less than $1.25 a day for shelter, food, health care etc. This is a free ticketed event and anyone who gets involved online can earn tickets at www.globalcitizenfestival.com by completing online “actions” related to the three key issues. Since the Festival’s inception in 2012, actions taken by concertgoers have resulted in $1.3 billion dollars in new funding and 35 commitments from world leaders that directly benefit the world’s poor.

Carrie Underwood emerged from the promise of her 2005 American Idol win to become a true multi-format, multi-media superstar, spanning achievements in music, television, and film, where the six-time GRAMMY® Award winner has amassed more than 95 major honors, sold more than 64 million records worldwide, and recorded 18 #1 singles, nine of which she co-wrote. She was the first female artist to be twice named the Academy of Country Music’s Entertainer of the Year. Underwood was recognized as Pollstar’s Top Female Country Touring Artist for each of her headlining tours, in 2008, 2010, and 2012. Her four albums, Some Hearts, Carnival Ride, Play On, and Blown Away – each certified multi-Platinum or Platinum, and each an American Music Awards winner as Country Album of the Year – tallied 38 weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart with songs that have now been streamed more than 800 million times worldwide. A proud member of the Grand Ole Opry since 2008, Underwood last year became the musical voice of primetime television’s #1 program, Sunday Night Football, and starred as Maria von Trapp in NBC’s three-hour holiday blockbuster, The Sound of Music Live!, whose airings attracted 44 million viewers. On Nov. 5, Carrie and Brad Paisley will return to host “The 48th Annual CMA Awards” for the seventh consecutive time,
