10th Annual Celebration Premieres Live Wednesday, October 16 at 8pm ET/PT

NASHVILLE – September 17, 2019 –CMT today revealed it will honor superstar acts Carrie Underwood, Dan + Shay, Kane Brown, Luke Combs and Thomas Rhett as the top country artists of 2019 to be celebrated at this year’s 10th Annual “CMT Artists of the Year” special, broadcasting LIVE from Nashville’s Schermerhorn Symphony Center on Wednesday, October 16 at 8pm ET/PT.

The 90-minute special will highlight the five “Artists of the Year” who have collectively ruled the last 12 months in country music, leading across all CMT’s platforms, scoring chart-topping albums and singles while simultaneously selling out arenas across the country. The event will feature surprise musical pairings and guests as in past years, and will also feature a live-streamed remote performance by Carrie Underwood from her “Cry Pretty Tour 360” tour stop in Cleveland, Ohio. Additional performers and presenters will be announced at a later date.

“These five, stand-out honorees have dominated country music this year and we look forward to paying tribute to each of them at the 10th year anniversary CMT Artists of the Year event,” said Leslie Fram, Senior Vice President of Music Strategy & Talent, CMT. “From first-time honorees Dan + Shay, Kane Brown and Luke Combs to two-time honoree Thomas Rhett and now five-time honoree Carrie Underwood, this incredible collection of talent coming together at what marks a pivotal time in each of their careers promises to be a night of incredible performances and reflection.”

This year marks a significant milestone for the “CMT Artists of the Year” special as it celebrates the decade-long anniversary of the live music franchise. Through the years, the show has become a highly anticipated celebration of both country music’s breakthrough talent, as well as seasoned musicians who’ve become icons in the country music industry.

While the awards special has always been exciting to watch with its unexpected performances and heartfelt moments from musicians, it has also been an advocate for supporting important causes. In years past, the show has raised both awareness and contributions for those impacted by such natural disasters as Hurricane Harvey and the tragic events at Route 91 Harvest music festival in Las Vegas. Last year, the “2018 CMT Artists of the Year” special was dedicated to the women of country music and demonstrated CMT’s commitment to female artists.

Previous “CMT Artists of the Year” performances and surprise acts have included Adele and Darius Rucker performing Lady Antebellum’s “Need You Now,” Adam Lambert and Leona Lewis paying tribute to Little Big Town’s “Girl Crush,” and Maroon 5 covering Taylor Swift’s “Mine.” The show has featured appearances by Ellen DeGeneres, Matthew McConaughey, Selena Gomez, Billy Bob Thornton, Roger Clemens, Morgan Freeman, the cast of Nashville and more. STAMFORD, Conn. – August 26, 2019 – In less than two weeks on Sunday, Sept. 8, seven-time Grammy Award-winner and multi-platinum recording artist Carrie Underwood and NFL players star in the debut of the 2019 show open for NBC’s Sunday Night Football, primetime television’s No. 1 program for an unprecedented eight consecutive years

Underwood, who stars in the NBC SNF show open for the seventh consecutive year, welcomes Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Joan Jett, who makes an appearance during Underwood’s performance.

A sneak preview of the SNF show open aired at halftime of last night’s Pittsburgh-Tennessee preseason game on NBC. The preview is now available here on NBCSports.com or the NBC Sports YouTube channel.

Thirteen NFL players, who have accounted for 31 Pro Bowl selections (including 10 2018 Pro Bowlers), four Super Bowl rings, and nine first-round draft picks, are in the show open. Following is the complete list:

Tell us your favorite Carrie Underwood memory: There are so many good ones, but I’ll go back to my very first Carrie concert, Musikfest at Bethlehem, PA. As the band started playing the opening notes to Don’t Forget To Remember Me and Carrie was waiting to start in, a train came passing by and blared its horn repeatedly. Carrie blurted out “Gotta love that train!” I work near a train crossing, and every time a train rolls by, it takes me back to that moment and brings a smile to my face.

NBC Sunday Night Football is Primetime TV’s #1 Show for Unprecedented Eight Consecutive Years

STAMFORD, Conn. – August 20, 2019 – NBC’s Sunday Night Football, primetime television’s No. 1 program for an unprecedented eight consecutive years, will unveil an all-new show open with Carrie Underwood this season, with a nod to the first-ever NBC SNF open in 2006 featuring a new rendition of the original “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” music.

Underwood, the seven-time Grammy Award-winner and multi-platinum recording artist, stars in the NBC SNF show open for the seventh consecutive year and welcomes Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Joan Jett, who makes an appearance during Underwood’s performance.

At the invitation of Underwood, Jett – whose 1988 Top 10 hit “I Hate Myself for Loving You” was adapted for the original “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night” SNF show open music in 2006 – appears for the first time in the NBC Sunday Night Football show open. Underwood will also be joined by NFL stars (to be announced on Monday) in the new show open.

“I have always been a huge fan of Joan’s, and I’m thrilled that she’s joining us for the Sunday Night Football open,” Underwood said. “What better way to pay homage to the original SNF opening song than by getting to play with her on primetime’s biggest stage?”

“When Carrie brought us this idea, we immediately embraced it as a terrific way to evolve the performance, while also celebrating the song we used in our first 10 seasons of SNF,” said Fred Gaudelli, Executive Producer of NBC’s Sunday Night Football. “We were excited when Joan agreed to join us, and we can’t wait to debut the finished product.”

At halftime of this Sunday night’s preseason game on NBC (Pittsburgh Steelers at Tennessee Titans, 8 p.m. ET), a sneak preview of the SNF show open will air. The full 2019 NBC Sunday Night Football show open will debut on Sunday, Sept. 8, as the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots host the Pittsburgh Steelers.

For the first time in the series’ 14 seasons, the SNF show open was filmed inside an NFL stadium, with Mercedes-Benz Stadium, home of the Atlanta Falcons, serving as the “stage.”

Pepsi is the sponsor of the SNF open and will be integrated on-air each week.
